Teacher evaluation delay approved in MI House by unanimous vote

House lawmakers adopted a bill putting a one-year pause on revamping Michigan's teacher evaluation system Thursday, and required that when the new system takes effect, student testing makes up half of teachers' scores.

Senate Bill 817 won unanimous approval after removing a gradual phase-in of student test scores as a component of the system in favor of mandating that assessments provide half of a teacher's mark.
